Born in Salem, India, Dr. Obuli Ramachandran is the son of a hardworking and sincere bank manager.  Dr. Ramachandran began his medical journey at Kilpauk Medical College, where he pursued his MBBS from 2006 to 2012. His unwavering passion for ophthalmology and outstanding academic achievements during this time paved the way for his selection at the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi. It was here that Dr. Ramachandran completed his MD in Ophthalmology from 2013 to 2016, further honing his skills and laying the foundation for a remarkable career.

Following his MD, Dr. Ramachandran sought to specialize in vitreo-retinal surgery, an area of ophthalmology that fascinated him. He embarked on a two-year fellowship at the renowned Aravind Eye Hospital in Madurai, focusing on Vitreo-Retina, Uvea, and ROP. His commitment to excellence, along with his growing expertise, led to a rare offer of immediate consultancy upon completing his fellowship. Dr. Ramachandran gratefully accepted this opportunity, which allowed him to make a significant impact in the field of vitreo-retinal surgery.

During his two-and-a-half-year consultancy at Aravind Eye Hospital, Dr. Ramachandran demonstrated exceptional surgical skills, performing more than 2,500 vitreo-retinal surgeries. His unwavering dedication to his patients and the pursuit of knowledge made him a respected mentor and guide to his fellow colleagues. Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Ramachandran took charge of vital functions within the hospital, showcasing his adaptability and leadership qualities in challenging times.

Dr. Ramachandran's commitment to advancing the field of ophthalmology extends beyond clinical practice. He has contributed to the scientific community by authoring over 15 academic papers published in various international journals. In his current role as an Associate Consultant at Centre For Sight, Dr. Ramachandran continues to provide top-tier care to his patients in New Delhi. He lends his expertise to both the Safdarjung Enclave and Dwarka branches, while also periodically overseeing the vitreo-retinal services at the Agra branch.
